Community Town Hall 01 - Motion to Limit Modular Vehicle Claims ([US] Gamerz Inn | PvE | Beginner)

Should a new rule be added to limit the number of modular vehicles a player or team can claim?

  • NO - It's fine the way it is; do not add a new rule.

Hello community players and server admins. I politely and respectfully put forth the motion limit a solo and a team's number of modular vehicles they can claim.

My reasons for adding this amendment to the [US] Gamerz Inn | PvE | Beginner server is that hoarding vehicles does not create a fun play environment. Since there are (at the time of writing) a limited number of vehicle spawns, if one player collects a large majority of the vehicles, it directly affects other players by preventing them the option of using them. Selling cars to the public is fine, it's part of the role playing, but (a) if the selling user isn't online, other players can't buy these vehicles and (B) there should be a limit to the number of vehicles they own so that players can choose between purchasing a car from another player or salvaging one for themselves.

Additionally, some players may not move as quickly or have as much time online to collect a car in the time frame a vehicle collector might.

Thank you for reading my post and voicing your opinion. Please keep all responses polite and civil.

I voted in favor of limiting the number of vehicles a player can own. However, this should have a clause that states a person can break said limit if they're actively running a car dealership. Also, there should be a grandfather clause that states this does not take affect until next wipe.

I voted No - But increase spawn rates. I don't see a problem with people having multiple cars as long as there are still cars for other players.

In favor of limiting. I literally spent 4 days looking around the map and asking in global if somebody could sell me one... it's a nightmare for players that haven't started on wipe day to find a single car, let alone gathering several.

The only way i could see not having a rule for this is if there's an algorithm that runs and decides how many unclaimed (not under a roof) are available and spawn X amount to cover the need (so it's not as much of a scarce resource).
Although that would require some API access or a custom mod and I'm not sure if these information are available to start with.

I voted no but increase spawn rates. Hoarding is awful, but I woul d like to try and get back in the auto biz if possible. I had lots of fun running Cap's Auto. However this wipe was epiciallyvslim picking for vehicles. I dunno but I think mo limit for now, but if there is a way to curtail hoarding and not actively using masses of vehicles I would probably like that.

The issue is that I think the server is already pretty much capped out on vehicles. I mean, it could probably be extended. But without a rule in place, how can we stop someone from hoarding 60 cars next wipe?

I voted to Raise the spawns, No with a caveat.. I can see good points and bad on both sides of this issue, and Would Personally

Possibly a Limit on # held (on the slightly higher side to prevent Gross Hoarding), but ALSO and adjustment if possible to spawns, just smaller tweak to see what can be done while maintaining server balance...

Another option is there is a mod to make it to where you can purchase a car at the car lifts.

I think kamby's idea is best. But I think Krythic's suggestion of making a limit, but having exceptions for car salesmen, that actively makes sales, isn't a bad option either. I can fly a heli now, so this one doesn't affect me as much anymore. I like my car collection, but since learning heli, they just sit. So I got rid of most of 'em. I may stay outta this one.
